Note: Acrobat about Disti is a paid product, and this is perhaps the main reason for the possible refusal to use it. However, if you have a task to unitely encrypt one or more PDF files, you can easily do this as part of a free trial period provided by the program developers for 7 days.

1. Run Adobe Acrobat Pro DC,

   

   Open the PDF document to be protected by a password.



2. Call the "File" menu in the program, click on it on the item "Properties ...".



3. In the window that opens, go to the "Protection" tab.



4. In the "Protection of Documents" area, expand the list "Protection Method"

   

   And select "Protection using passwords" in it.



5. In the next dialog box, check the checkbox in the checkbox "Request a password to open the document".



6. Next, it is possible to enter a secret combination of characters in the "password to open a document" in the "password" field, without knowing the encrypted file to open, do it.



7. If necessary, move to the "Access Rights" area and install an optional, characteristic of the Password specified when executing the previous item, restricting the ability to edit and print the document.

Method 2: Foxit Phantompdf

The following tool that deserves the attention of users who need to conduct more serious, rather than normal viewing, operations with PDF files, and providing the ability to protect the password stored in this format, is the PHANTOMPDF editor developed by Foxit Software. With a copy of the specified software with a paid license or using it within a 14-day introductory period, the operation under consideration is easy.

1. Open the password-protected document into foxite foxespdf.



2. Click on the file name "File" in the program,

   

   Then go to the "Properties" section.



3. Click "Security" in the list of "Properties".



4. Moving to the right-hand side of the window that opened, expand the list of options located under the name "Security"

   

   Choose in it "Password Protection".



5. In the "Document Opening Settings" area, the Activate Password option to open the document will be displayed.



6. Double-click the Password open in the program to the appropriate fields.



7. In addition to the secret combination of characters, which is assigned by the "key" to open the file, the PDF format allows you to provide separately or additionally password protection of editing and printing functions. If the application of this option is needed in your case, move to the "document restriction parameters" area and activate it.

   

   Further:

   • Click on the "Permissions" button.

   

   • In the dialog box that opens, set the check in the checkbox "Print restrictions and changes to the document and its security parameters".

   

   • If necessary, adjust the level of the limitations of the restrictions by selecting items in the drop-down lists. Click "OK" to save the changes in the "Permissions Settings" and close the dialog box.

   

   • Double-envey limiting changes and print the password document to the corresponding fields of the document limit parameters.

   

8. After completing the configuration and input of the secret combinations of characters, click "OK" in the "Password Protection" window,

3. In the window that appears from the disclosure list "Protection Method"

   

   Select "Password to protect".



4. Next, determine the type of access to the file, which, after executing the operation under consideration, will be closed prior to provision of via users and PDF editors of the secret combination of characters - opening and / or changing / printing. To do this, in the Passwords of the Document Passwords, set the marks in the "Request Password when opening a document" and / or "Restriction of editing and printing a document" checkboxes.

9. Save the document or its encrypted copy of the XChange Editor (File menu. - "Save" / "Save As").
