When transferring to the server and receiving files to the FTP protocol, there are sometimes different errors that interrupt the load. Of course, it delivers many trouble users, especially if you need to urgently download important information. One of the most common problems when transmitting data via the FTP protocol through the Total Commander program is the error "The PORT command is not executed." The main reason for the error "PORT command is not executed" lies, in most cases, not in the features of the Total Commander architecture, and in the incorrect settings of the provider, and this can be as a client provider and the server.There are two modes of connection: active and passive. With an active mode, the client (in our case, the Total Commander program) sends the "Port" command to the server, which reports its coordinates of the connection, in particular the IP address, in order for the server to be contacted.
When using a passive mode, the client informs the server so that it has already transferred its coordinates, and after receiving them, performs connection to it.
With incorrect settings of the provider, the use of proxy or additional firewalls, the transmitted data in the active mode is distorted when executing the PORT command, and the connection is broken. How to solve this problem?
Eliminating error
To eliminate the error, the PORT command is not executed, you need to refuse to use the port command, which is used in the active mode of connection. But, the problem is that the default Total Commander uses exactly active mode. Therefore, to get rid of this error, we have to include in the program passive data transmission mode.
To do this, click on the "Network" section of the upper horizontal menu. In the list that appears, select the "Connect to the FTP server" item.
A list of FTP connections opens. We celebrate the desired server, and click on the "Change" button.
The window opens with the connection settings. As you can see, the "passive exchange mode" item is not activated.
We celebrate this item check box. And click on the "OK" button to save the results of changing settings.
Now you can try to connect to the server again.
The above method ensures the disappearance of the error "PORT command is not executed", but it cannot provide a guarantee that the connection for the FTP protocol will earn.
