How to update BIOS on HP laptop

The BIOS has undergone not so much changes compared to its first variations, but for convenient use of the PC, it is sometimes necessary to update this basic component. On laptops and computers (including from the company HP), the update process is not distinguished by any specific features.

Technical features

The BIOS update on the HP laptop is a bit more complicated than on the laptops of other manufacturers, since the special utility is not built into the BIOS, which when started from the loading flash drive, the update procedure would be started. Stage 1: Preparation

The only nuance is the fact that in addition to data such as the full name of the laptop motherboard and the current BIOS version, you still need to find out a special serial number, which is assigned to each product from HP. If you have lost the documents for a laptop, then try searching the room on the circulation of the case. It is usually located opposite the "Product No." and / or "Serial No." inscription. 1. After startup, the main window will open, from where you need to go to the "System Board". It can also be done using the navigation menu on the left side of the window.
2. Similarly, go to "BIOS".
3. Find the BIOS manufacturer lines and the BIOS version. Opposite them will be information regarding the current version. It must be saved, as it may be necessary to create an emergency copy that will be needed to roll back.



4. From here you can download a new version for a direct link. It is located in the BIOS Upgrade line. With it, it is really possible to download a new version, but it is not recommended to do this, since there is a risk of downloading inappropriate for your machine and / or an irrelevant version. 5. Now you need to find out the full name of your motherboard. To do this, go to the "System Board", by analogy with the 2nd step, find a "System Board" line there, in which the full name of the board is usually written. Its name may be needed to search by the official site.
