The era of keyboard smartphones today is over - the main input tool on modern devices has become a touch screen and a screen keyboard. Like a lot more on Android, the keyboard can also be changed. Read below to learn how to do it.
Change the keyboard on Android
As a rule, only one keyboard is built in most firmware. Consequently, to change it, you will need to install alternative - you can use this list, or choose any other market you like from Play. In the example, we will use GBOard.
Be vigilant - often among keyboard applications come across viruses or trojans, which can steal your passwords, so carefully read descriptions and comments!
- Download and set the keyboard. Immediately after installing it, it is not necessary to open it, so click "Finish".
- The next step is to open the "Settings" and find the "Language and Enter" menu item (its location depends on the firmware and the version of Android).
Go to it.
- Further actions also depend on the firmware and version of the device. For example, on Samsung running Android 5.0+, you will need to click on the default.
And in the pop-up window, click "Add Keyboards".
- On other devices and versions of the OS, you will immediately go to the selection of keyboards.
Check the box opposite your new input tool. Read the Warning and press "OK", if you are confident about it.
- After these actions, GBoard will launch the built-in setup wizard (also similar is also present in many other keyboards). You will have a pop-up menu in which you should select GBOrD.
Then click "Finish."
Please note that some applications do not have a built-in master. If after steps 4 actions, nothing happens, go to clause 6.
- Close or roll "Settings". You can check the keyboard (or switch it) in any application that contains fields to enter text: browsers, messengers, notepads. Apply the application for SMS. Go to it.
- Start entering a new message.
When the keyboard appears, the "keyboard selection" notification will be displayed in the status string.
Pressing this notification will show you a familiar pop-up window with a choice of input tool. Just mark it in it, and the system automatically switches to it.
In the same way, through the input method selection window, you can set the keyboard, bypassing items 2 and 3 - simply click "Add keyboards".
With this method, you can install multiple keyboards for different use scenarios and easy to switch between them.
