Companies producing fans with 3-PIN connections can use wires of different colors, but the "land" always remains black. Most often there are combination of red, yellow and black, where the first is +12 volts, the second is +7 volts and goes to the leg of the tachometer, and black, respectively, 0. The second most popular combination - green, yellow, black, where green - 7 Volt, and yellow - 12 volts. Connecting a 3-pin cooler to a 4-pin connector on a motherboard
Though 3-PIN fans and have speed tracking sensor, they still cannot be adjusted via special software or BIOS. This feature appears only in 4-pin coolers.
