Method 2: View code in browser

The preceding method although it allows you to read the last message, but only if it is very short and can fit into one row. It is possible to improve a bit of a similar situation at the expense of the web browser console, getting access to the full text, without opening the dialogue.

Note: We will consider only Google Chrome, but keep in mind that the instruction can differ significantly depending on the browser.

1. Expand through the Main menu "Messages" and on the "Unreader" tab, find the corresponding corresponding. Here it is necessary to click on the right mouse button on the block with the text and through the appeared list select "View Code".

Step 1: Expansion Preparation

4. Now, being on any browser tab, click the left button on the menu icon in the upper right corner, select "Advanced Tools" and go to the "Extensions" section.



5. Here, on the top of the panel, you must use the "Developer Mode" slider and press the "Download Unpassed Extension" button below.



6. To complete the installation through the "Select Extension Catalog" window, specify the folder with the previously unpacked VK Helper.

   

   Upon successful completion, a new tab with installation notification will appear and with a brief instruction for work.

Step 2: Extension Settings

1. To make the VK Helper functions, you need to click the LX on the extension icon on the right top of the browser panel and select the Add Account item.



2. On the Login page, make authorization on the site using data from the page. Note that it must be done even if there is a saved session.



3. Give the application access to the account data using the Allow button. If you previously used Kate Mobile, the step will be skipped.



4. Once on the VKontakte page, click on the extension icon on the top of the browser and select "Settings". At the same time, make sure that the attached account is presented.



5. On the Settings page, find the "Dialogs" section and set the checkbox "Do not marry read messages". To save enough to exit the page and click "F5" on the VK website.

Step 3: Reading Dialogue

3. Reconnect the application again and make sure that instead of the name of the "Messages" section displays the "Waiting Network" notification. It is after this that you can open a dialogue that interests, familiarize yourself with the information and close, leaving unread to the interlocutor.
