There is no client remote desktop license

When using RDP on a computer running Windows operating system for some reason, an error may occur about the lack of client remote desktop licenses. Further in the article we will talk about the causes and methods of eliminating such a message.

Methods for elimination of the error

The error in question occurs, regardless of the version of the OS due to the lack of licenses on the client computer. Sometimes the same message can be seen due to the impossibility of obtaining a new license, since the earlier was cached.

Method 1: Removal of registry branches

The first method is to delete certain registry keys associated with RDP licenses. Thanks to this approach, it is possible to update temporary licenses and at the same time get rid of problems in terms of caching outdated records.

1. On the keyboard, use the "Win + R" key combination and enter the following request.

   regedit.



2. In the Registry, expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE branch and switch to the Software section.



3. On the 32-bit OS, go to the Microsoft folder and scroll down it down to the "MSLicensing" directory.



4. Right-click on the line with the specified folder and select Delete.

   Note: Do not forget to make a copy of the changing keys.



5. The removal process must be confirmed manually.



6. In the case of a 64-bit OS, the only difference is that after switching to the "Software" section, you need to additionally disclose the "WOW6432Node" directory. The remaining actions are completely similar to the above described.



7. Before proceeding to launch, restart the computer.

   Method 2: Copy registry branches

   The first way to correct the problem with the lack of a client license of the remote desktop is effective not on all versions of Windows, which in particular applies to the top ten. You can correct the error by transferring the registry branches from the Windows 7 or 8 machine to your computer.
