Updating the ZyXEL Keenetic Giga Firmware Firmware is necessary to install new versions of operating systems, interacting with which occurs through the web interface. Installation of updates adds new features to the firmware and corrects the problems that were discovered by developers. There are as many three possible embodiments of this task, and we will look at all in the maximum detailed form.
Method 1: Automatic update via the web interface
The method implying automatic updates through the web interface is the easiest and suitable for inexperienced users, so we decided to put it on this position in our current material. You need only a few simple action from the user.
- To start, log in to the web interface. Open any convenient browser and enter the address 192.168.1.1 there, and then press ENTER to go.
- When the form appears, enter the account name and password that is used to connect to the web interface. If you independently did not change these parameters, you write admin in both fields.
- The first section of the web interface is called "System Monitor". Here on the System tab, look at the "Update" string. If you have an inscription "available" to the right, it means that updates have already come out and they can be installed. Click on this clicable inscription to go to the installation.
- The "Update" section will open. In it you will receive basic information about the new version. If you agree with its installation, click on the "Install" button.
- Review the completion of this operation. It will take literally a few minutes.
- After that, the router will be automatically rebooted, and in the "Updates" section you will see that you are currently using the current version of the operating system.
Now you can be confident that the last current version of the firmware is installed in the router and the latest functions released by developers are available.
Method 2: Manual installation of firmware via web interface
The manual firmware installation method is a bit more difficult to implement, but you can download absolutely any available version of the operating system, including even outdated or in test mode. All files will have to download separately from the official site, and then upload them to the web interface. Let's figure it out in order with each action.
- For a start, look at the back of the router. There is a sticker with the name of the model. Make sure it is called KN-1010.
- Then click on the link above to get to the main page of the site ZyXEL KEENETIC. There, select the "Support" section.
- Source down the tab and click on the tile with the name "Download Center".
- Among the file list, find "download files for Keenetic Giga (KN-1010)".
- Lay the appropriate firmware version, for example, the last, and click on its number to start downloading the archive.
- Open the received directory through any convenient software.
- Unpack the file located there in an arbitrary location on the local storage.
- If you are interested in obtaining an old firmware, the version of which is not in mentioned just a section, you will need to go to "archive models" through the "Download Center".
- Select "Download Files for Zyxel Keenetic Giga".
- Load the version of the operating system there and also unpack the BIN format included in it.
- Now that the firmware file is obtained, open the web interface as shown in the previous method. Move to the "System" section, open the "Files" tab and select "Firmware" to replace.
- An additional window "File Management" will open. There, click on "Select File", specify the BIN element and wait until the installation is completed. After the automatic reboot, the router will already function with the new firmware.
Zyxel Keenetic Giga has an alternative version of the Internet center, which was used in old versions of the OS. The principle of selecting the firmware component in it is a bit different, so let's briefly stop on this web interface.
- The entrance to the Internet center is carried out in the same way as in any other, so we will not stop at this step. After successful authorization, expand the "System" tree by using the menu on the left.
- Select the section "Firmware" there.
- In the form of "Installing a firmware", go to the review via a standard conductor to find the required element of the BIN format.
- After adding, make sure that the component has been selected and click on "update".
- Confirm the notification.
- The update will take several minutes, and in a separate window it will be possible to monitor its condition.
Immediately after completing the installation of the update, the router will be sent to a reboot, after which you can start a full-fledged interaction with this device.
Method 3: Automatic update via Mobile application
The final method is to use branded mobile application from Keenetic. It requires connecting to a router via Wi-Fi and allows you to automatically install updates without authorization in the web interface through the browser.
- Lay My.keenetic through Google Play Market, install and launch this application.
- Connect to the network via a wireless network or scan the QR code over the opposite side of the router to access the control system.
- Now you can choose a network to configure from the list.
- After selecting, press the icon in the form of a gear to go to the settings.
- In the list of parameters, select "Built-in software".
- Check out the current version and make sure the update is available, and then click the "Device Update" button.
- Expect the download and add the required components.
You will be notified of the successful installation of updates. Now you can proceed to further configure the router or shut down in a mobile application.
The ZyXEL Keenetic Giga firmware is a process that does not even take a long-term user. It is only required to choose the way you like and implement it, following the instructions given.
