How to disable auto-update on iPhone

Option 1: Operating system

By default, iOS automatically receives updates, downloading them in the background, and then allowing you to manually set or making it yourself (depends on the settings specified). In order to disable this feature, although it is not recommended to do, follow next instructions:

1. Open the "Settings" of the iPhone and scroll them a bit down.



2. Go to the "Basic" section.



3. Next, tap by subsection "Update by".

   

   Wait until the availability of updates is checked.

   

   Then tap the outline of the "Auto-update" below.



4. If you need to disable only the installation of the updated iOS version at night, when the iPhone is connected to the charger and Wi-Fi network, deactivate the switch opposite the corresponding item.

   

   If, in addition to installing, it is also required to prohibit them and automatic loading, deactivate the first switch - it will immediately decide both tasks.



5. From now on, if you have deactivated both togglers in the above section of the settings, the mobile operating system updates will no longer be downloaded or installed.



Once again, we note that it is not recommended to do, since OS updates contain not only new features and all sorts of improvements, but also correcting various errors that could be allowed in previous versions, as well as security patches.

Option 2: Applications

All programs installed on the iPhone from the App Store are also updated in automatic mode. In order to prohibit it do it, do the following:

1. Run the "Settings" and, if iOS 14 is installed on the mobile device or its newer version, scroll down the list of available partitions down, find the "App Store" and go to it.

   

   In iOS 13, to solve the tasks set before us, you must proceed to the Apple ID parameters - the first section "Settings", and then from it in the "iTunes Store and App Store".

2. Disconnect the toggle switch in front of the software update item.

   

   If you can deactivate the production of software and its updates, including to save mobile traffic, disconnect the "Automatically download" parameter below in the "Cell data" block (it also applies to updates and installations if the previous parameter is enabled).

   

   Advice: If at your disposal or in the family you have more than one Apple mobile device running the iOS / iPados and one Apple ID, but you do not want to be installed on your iPhone to be installed on other devices, disconnect the first item in the section under consideration. Settings.
