Method 1: Button on the toolbar
To change the color of the text in the Word Document, you must use the button specifically designed to this button located in the Font Toolbar.
- Highlight the text fragment you want to paint.
- Expand the "A" button, marked in the image below.
- Choose suitable color on the palette
Or use the item "Other Colors".
This action will open the Color dialog box, consisting of two tabs:
- Ordinary;
- Range.
In each of them, it is possible to determine the desired color as accurately as possible. The lower right corner displays a comparison of the new and current.
To confirm the selection, you must click the "OK" button, after which the color will be applied to the selected text fragment, and will also be added to the palette to the list "Latest Colors".
- As in the previous case, select a text fragment whose color needs to be changed.
- Click on the button marked below the button below or use the CTRL + D key combination.
- In the window that opens from the "Text Color" drop-down list, select the appropriate option -
A palette and "other colors" are available.
All acclaimed changes can be seen in the "sample" area. It is also possible to change directly the font itself, its intensity, size and some other parameters.

- To diversify the pre-installed design styles by changing their colors, you can use two tools:
- "Themes";
- "Colors".
The latter can also be configured in detail for themselves, determining the colors and shades of different elements of a text document,
By setting the style name and retaining it as a template.
Method 4: Text Effects and Design
The last option of changing the color that we want to consider is largely different from the previous ones, as it allows you to completely transform the appearance of the text by applying various effects to it. This approach can be used in creating presentations, postcards, greeting and booklets, but in the "household" and working document flow, it is unlikely to find its application.
In the "Font Color" menu, another option of coloring letters is available - "gradient". By default, this subparagraph shows the shades of the current color, and for their change, you must use the option "Other gradient fillings".
On the right will appear the "Format of text effects", in which you can not only change the color, tint, features of the gradient and the transparency of the font, but also some other parameters of its display, for example, add contour and other effects. Read more Work with this section will be reviewed in the last part of the article.
Method 2: Parameters of the Font Group
Another text coloring method in the document is to contact the "Font" group tools.
As a result, the color of the selected text will be changed.
Method 3: Formatting Styles
The methods discussed above allow you to change the color for any arbitrary font and / or part of the text in the document or for all at once. This is done in several clicks, but inconvenient in cases where different fragments (for example, a headline, subtitle, paragraph) require "coloring" in different colors. For such purposes it is easier to create several styles, setting the desired parameters for each of them, and then apply them as needed.
About how to create new styles in the Word yourself, we have previously written in a separate article - among the options available for configuring parameters, the choice of color you are interested in. Next, we consider how to choose and use pre-installed styles and their components such as topics and colors.

Important! The changes under consideration further apply to the pre-selected or default design style and apply to the entire document immediately. Selecting text to change its color, in this case it is not necessary.
