WebGL in Yandex.Browser
WebGL plugin is supported in stable versions of most popular web browsers - Google Chrome, Opera, Firefox Mozilla, Safari, Internet Explorer. At the moment there are two versions - 1.0 and 2.0, but they are not fully compatible. For example, content written for the first version can work with WebGL 2.0, but not always. Also, if the browser supported the first version, it is not necessary that the second one will be available, since much depends on the computer hardware.
Yandex.Browser in specifications is not specified, but it, like Google Chrome, is developed on the basis of Chromium, therefore also supports WebGL. The plugin is active by default, and if before they had an option that turns it off, now it is not. To make sure that the technology is included:
- In the address bar, enter the command:
Browser: // GPU
And click "ENTER".
- The information you need will be in the state of graphic functions.
Additionally, in the browser, you can open access to web applications to developed experimental additions expanding the options for WebGL. You can do it on PCs and mobile devices with the Android operating system.
Computer
- We run Yandex.Browser, open the "Settings" and check whether the hardware acceleration is enabled. To do this, enter the command in the address bar:
browser: // settings
And click "ENTER".
- Go to the "System" tab, in the "Productivity" block should be a check mark opposite "use hardware acceleration, if possible."
- Now open a section with hidden options. To do this in the address bar, enter the code:
Browser: // Flags
And click "ENTER".
- All functions are experimental here, therefore there is a warning about the possible consequences of their use.
- By the title name in the field on the right, we find the option "WebGL 2.0 Compute" and "WebGL Draft Extensions" set the value "Enable" and click "Relaunch" to change the changes.
Mobile device
- Open Yandex.Browser for Android, enter the address:
Browser: // Flags
And tapack "Go."
- In the same way, we are looking for the desired option, select "Enable" and click "Relaunch".
Solving problems with WebGL
The technology may not work in the Yandex browser due to the hardware problems or the lack of the necessary functions at the graphics processor. For example, plugin may not support old video card models. If a modern video chip on the device, be sure to install current drivers, as well as update the web browser to the latest version. On our site there are detailed articles on how to do it.

Despite the fact that the plugin is active by default, you can block its operation through changes in the label parameters. Accidentally this is not done, but if, for example, the computer is corporate, another user could turn it off.
- Click right-click on the Yandex Browser label and select "Properties" in the context menu.
- In the tab "Label" in the "Object" field, add the "-Disable-WebGL" value, click apply and close the window.
- Now, when starting it from this label, the plugin in the browser will be disconnected.
- To activate WebGL again, you just need to erase the extension value.
Some users during the games received a message that the WebGL is not supported, even if the report shows that it is enabled. In this case, the following actions sometimes help:
- In the section with experimental features, we find the option "Choose Angle Graphics Backend" and in the field on the right, set the value "D3D9" or "D3D11" if the video card supports DirectX 11. This option can increase productivity and optimize work with some graphic applications.
- We click "Relaunch" to change the changes.
Also about all problems with the launch of games and sites, Khronos offers to write them. The letter must be attached to the screenshot of the error, as well as a copy of the full status of graphic functions.
