Delete windows with Mac
Delete Windows 10 - Windows 7 with MacBook, IMAC or other Mac computer may need to highlight more disk space for the following system installation or vice versa to attach the Windows disk space to MacOS.

In this manual, details about two ways to remove Windows with Mac installed in Boot Camp (on a separate disc / disc). All data from Windows sections will be deleted. See also: How to install Windows 10 on Mac.

Note: Ways to remove from Parallels Desktop or VirtualBox will not be considered - in these cases, it is enough to delete virtual machines and hard drives, as well as if necessary, virtual machines.

Remove Windows with Mac in Boot Camp

The first way to remove the installed Windows with MacBook or IMAC is the easiest: To do this, you can use the Boot Camp Assistant utility, with which the system is installed.

  1. Run the "Boot Camp Assistant" (for this you can use the search for Spotlight or find the utility in Finder - Utilities - Utilities).
  2. Click the "Continue" button in the first Utility window, and then select "Delete Windows 7 or Newer" and click "Continue".

  3. In the next window, you will see how the disc partitions will look after deletion (the entire disk will occupy MacOS). Click "Restore".

  4. Upon completion of the Windows process, only MacOS will remain on the computer.

Unfortunately, this method in some cases does not work and Boot Camp reports that it was not possible to remove Windows. In this case, you can use the second way to remove.

Using a disk utility to delete the Boot Camp section

The same thing that the Boot Camp is done can be done manually using the Mac OS Disk Utility. It can be launched by the same methods that were used for the previous utility.

The procedure for action after launch will be as follows:

  1. In the disk utility in the left pane, select the physical disk (not partition, see on the screenshot) and click the "Split to sections" button.

  2. Select the Boot Camp section and click "-" (minus) below it. Then, if you have, select the partition marked with an asterisk (Windows Recovery) and also use the Minus button.

  3. Click "Apply", and in the warning that appears, click "split into sections".

After the process is completed, all the files and the Windows system itself will be deleted from your Mac, and the free disk space will join the Macintosh HD section.
