Method 1: System Message
Modern versions of Windows are mostly capable of self-dependent applications and offer them to closure in the pop-up message, which in the "dozen" looks like this:
After clicking on the "Close Program" button in the newest system from Microsoft, the automatic sending of information will begin - this is done so that the company can contact the game developers. If you do not need it, click "Cancel".
Sometimes it happens that the message is, but it seems like the game "hanged" the whole system. You can check this by a combination of the Alt + Tab keys: it will be possible to translate the focus from the game window to the desired item where the options can be used. If the mouse cursor does not appear (many applications use exclusive access to the manipulator), use the keyboard: go between the positions of the Tab key or arrows between the window positions, and use ENTER to confirm.
Method 2: Keys Combination
Even in the newest versions of Windows, you can manage the system with hot keys - they will be useful to us in solving the task.
- The first combination that is worth trying - Alt + F4. It is responsible for the forced closure of the window of any program, and in some cases it works even with the hints.
- In more complex situations, either the previously mentioned combination of Alt + Tab, or Win + D, is also responsible for switching between applications, while the second folds all active windows, giving access to the "desktop". To complete the hung program, take a look at the taskbar, find the problematic software icon there, click on it by PCM and select "Close the window".
- The last combination that can help in a similar case, familiar to almost everyone is Ctrl + Alt + Del. On topical versions of Windows, it is responsible for calling the Security Settings window, where you can run the "Task Manager".
To directly call this snap, you can use the Ctrl + Shift + Esc combination. Next, it remains only to use the system application to complete the program - more details about this is described in the following way.
Method 3: "Task Manager"
The manager of the launched windows processes is a multifunctional tool that in skillful hands can become a panacea to solve many problems. He will help us and in the case of an attached application.
- Call the snap-in methods from method 2 or use tips from the article further.

- After the desired window appears, make sure that the Applications tab (Windows 7) or Processes (Windows 10) are open. Find a position on it that caused the problem of the game and click "Remove the task". It should be borne in mind that sometimes the mouse cursor may not appear, and in this case, you should use the keyboard, namely Tab, arrows and ENTER.
- If these actions did not bring the result, you need to go to the "Processes" tab (Windows 7) or "Details" (Windows 10), where to find a process that matches the name of the executable game file. Highlight it with a mouse or arrows, then press the DEL key and confirm the completion operation.
It should be borne in mind that in order to obtain a complete list of active processes in Windows 7, it may be necessary to activate the option "Display the processes of all users".
- Steam service can face the following situation: a way out of the game (in particular, network) occurred normally, but the next attempt to start this product or any other through the service causes a message that the software is still open. To solve this situation, use the same "task manager", just this time try to complete all the processes in whose name is the word Steam.
As a rule, for the overwhelming majority situations of the forced stop of the program will be more than enough.
Method 4: Restart Computer
The most difficult type of problem under consideration is the game violated the responsiveness of the operating system, which is why it is impossible to use the methods below. Exit this position is only one - make a hardware reboot of the computer or laptop. In the desktop PCs there is a dedicated reset button, click on it.
With laptops, the situation is somewhat different, since the RESET key occurs on units of devices. A shutdown button will help here: Hold it for a while up to 10 seconds until the screen goes out and all the indication, then press again to start the device.
This extreme measure is effective in 100% of cases, but can lead to failures in the operation of the operating system.
