It is very unpleasant when due to the interruption with power, computer hangs or other failure, the data that you scored in the table, but did not have time to save, lost. In addition, it is constantly manually to ensure the results of your work - this means to be distracted from the main classes and lose extra time. Fortunately, the Excel program has such a convenient tool like auto storage. Let's deal with how to use it.
Working with autosave settings

Let's find out how to get into autosave settings.
- Open the "File" tab. Next, we move to the "Parameters" subsection.
- The Excel parameters window opens. Click on the inscription on the left side of the "Saving" window. It is here that all the settings you need are posted.
Changing temporary settings
By default, auto storage is enabled and produced every 10 minutes. Not everyone satisfies such a period of time. After all, in 10 minutes you can score a fairly large amount of data and very undesirable to lose them together with the forces and time spent on filling the table. Therefore, many users prefer to set the preservation mode of 5 minutes, and even 1 minute.
It is 1 minute - the shortest time that can be installed. At the same time, we should not forget that the system resources are spent in the saving process, and on weak computers, the installation can lead to significant braking in the speed of operation. Therefore, users who have fairly old devices fall into another extremes - generally turn off auto storage. Of course, it is not advisable to do, but, nevertheless, we will also talk later, how to disable this function. On most modern computers, even if you set a period of 1 minute - it will not noticeably affect the system performance.
So, to change the term in the "Autosave every" field fit the desired number of minutes. It must be integer and in the range from 1 to 120.
Change other settings
In addition, in the settings section, you can change another number of other parameters, although they do not advise them without any need to touch them. First of all, you can determine in what format files will be saved by default. This is done by selecting the appropriate format name in the "Save files in the following" field. By default, this is an Excel book (XLSX), but it is possible to change this expansion to the following:
- Book Excel 1993 - 2003 (XLSX);
- Excel book with macros support;
- Excel template;
- Web page (HTML);
- Simple text (TXT);
- CSV and many others.
In the "Data Catalog" field, a path is prescribed where motor shielded copies of files are stored. If you wish, this path can be changed manually.
The "Location of File Default" field shows the path to the directory in which the program proposes to store original files. It is this folder that opens when you click on the "Save" button.
Disable function
As already mentioned above, the automatic saving copies of the Excel Fals can be disabled. To do this, it is enough to remove a tick from the "autosave every" item and click on the "OK" button.
Separately, you can disable the saving of the last auto stop version when closing without saving. To do this, remove a tick from the corresponding settings item.
