The tool operation scheme is quite simple - it archives critical system elements into one large file, which is called the "Point of Recovery". It has a fairly large weight (sometimes up to several gigabytes), which guarantees as much as possible return to the previous state.
To create a recovery point, ordinary users do not need to resort to third-party software, you can cope with the internal capabilities of the system. The only requirement to be taken into account before proceeding to perform the instruction - the user must be the operating system administrator or is entitled to sufficient rights to system resources.
- Once it is necessary to click on the left mouse button on the Start button (by default it is on the screen left below), after which a small window of the same name will open.
- At the bottom of the search string, you need to type "Creating a recovery point" (you can copy and paste). At the top of the Start menu, one result will be displayed, it is necessary to press it once.
- After clicking on the item in the search menu, the startup will close, and the small window with the "System Properties" header will appear instead. By default, the tab you need is activated - "System Protection".
- At the bottom of the window, you need to find the inscription "Create a recovery point for disks with the function protection function, next to it will be the" Create "button, click on it once.
- A dialog box appears that offered to select a name for the recovery point so that if necessary, it was easy to find it in the list.
- When the recovery point name is specified, in the same window you need to click the "Create" button. After that, the archiving of critical system data will begin, which, depending on the performance of the computer, can take from 1 to 10 minutes, sometimes more.
- The end of the operation will notify the standard sound alert and the corresponding inscription in the working window.
Note, if in the table opposite the disk (s :) is visible, "disabled" is visible, this means that the system restores as a function is disabled. It must be enabled for this disk by selecting it if it is not highlighted in the table, and by clicking the "Configure" button. A new window will open in which to select "Enable System Protection", set the volume on the hard disk, which will be highlighted for backup copies (from 4 GB) and click OK. After that, you can proceed to creating a recovery point.
It is recommended to enter the name that contains the name of the control moment, before which it was done. For example, "Installing the Opera browser". Time and the creation date is added automatically.
The list of points available on the computer just created will have a name specified name in which the exact date and time will also be indicated. This will allow you to immediately specify it if necessary and make a rollback to the previous state.
When recovered from a backup, the operating system returns system files that have been changed in an inexperienced user or malicious program, and also returns the original registry state. The recovery point is recommended to create before installing critical operating system updates and before installing unfamiliar software. Also at least once a week you can create a backup for the prevention. Remember - regular creation of the recovery point will help avoid loss of important data and destabilizing the operating system of the operating system.
