Connect application in Windows 10
A few new applications appeared in Windows 10 updating, one of them - "Connect" (Connect) allows you to turn your computer or laptop to a wireless monitor that works using Miracast technology (see on this topic: how to connect a laptop or computer to a TV on Wi- Fi).

That is, if there are devices that support the wireless broadcast of the image and sound (for example, Android phone or tablet), you can transmit the contents of their screen to your computer from Windows 10. Next - how it works.

Broadcast from a mobile device on a Windows 10 computer

All you want to do is open the "Connect" application (it can be found using Windows 10 or simply in the list of all the Start menu programs). If the applications are not in the list, go to Settings - Applications - Additional Components and install the Wireless Monitor component. After that (while the application is running), your computer or laptop can be defined as a wireless monitor from devices connected to the same Wi-Fi network and supporting Miracast.

Update: Despite the fact that all the steps described below continue to work, in the new versions of Windows 10 there are advanced transmission settings to a computer or a laptop on Wi-Fi from a phone or another computer. More information about changes, features and possible problems in a separate instruction: how to transmit an image from Android or a computer on Windows 10.

For example, let's see how the connection will look on the Android phone or tablet.

Waiting for connection in the Connect application

First of all, the computer and the device from which the broadcast will be executed must be connected to one Wi-Fi network (Update: the requirement in new versions is not required, simply enabled Wi-Fi adapter on two devices). Or, if you do not have a router, but the computer (laptop) is equipped with a Wi-Fi adapter, you can turn on the mobile hot spot on it and connect to it from the device (see the first way in the instructions how to distribute the Internet on Wi-Fi from a laptop in Windows 10). After that, in the notification cortex, click on the Broadcast icon.

Screen Broadcast on Android

If you are reported that the devices are not detected, go to the broadcast settings and make sure that the search for wireless monitors is enabled (see on the screenshot).

Enable screen broadcast on Android

Select a wireless monitor (it will have the same name as your computer) and wait until the connection is to be installed. If everything goes successfully, you will see the image of the phone or tablet screen in the "Connect" application window.

For convenience, you can enable the landscape orientation of the screen on your mobile device, and open the application window on the computer.

Additional information and notes

Already experimenting on three computers, I noticed that this function is not everywhere working well (I suppose is related to the equipment, in particular - a Wi-Fi adapter). For example, on MacBook with the Windows 10 installed in Boot Camp, it was not possible at all.

Application notification Connect

Judging by the notification that appeared when connecting the Android phone - "the device that projects the image through a wireless connection does not support the touch input using the mouse of this computer", some devices such an input must support. I assume that it can be smartphones on Windows 10 Mobile, i.e. For them, using the "Connect" application, you can probably get "Wireless Continuum".

Well, about practical benefits from connecting the same Android phone or tablet in this way: I did not come up with that. Well, except to bring some presentations in your smartphone and show them through this application on the big screen that is managed by Windows 10.
